upstART aims to inspire and engage a group of young people into a future career in contemporary visual art through a series of workshops and coaching sessions delivered by creative industry professionals at Leeds Art Gallery and other venues in the city.
It will include an introduction to contemporary visual art, practical sessions around making new work in a range of media and coaching from creative industry mentors.
The project is open to all young people aged 16 – 18 in Leeds and is making special provision to engage with young people in care.
upstART will inspire and engage a broader demographic of young people into future careers in contemporary visual art by demystifying the different aspects of contemporary art practice.
The programme will introduce young people to different art venues, creative industry professionals and educational institutions in Leeds.
