Gildersome Mural

Artist Kate Woodfield creates mural from children’s stories for Gildersome Children’s Centre

23rd July 2010

Holmfirth artist Kate Woodfield has hosted a regular workshop group at Gildersome Children’s Centre for parents and their children. Within the workshops stories have been told which have inspired the creation of the mural.

The groups have made acetate mobiles, and a shower curtain with stories and photographs encapsulated in the plastic as an exterior display. They have also made printed cushions and a wicker scarecrow for the Gildersome Scarecrow festival.

There will be a celebration event to open the new mural on July 23rd which will be attended by parents and their children who have inspired this vibrant mural creation.

The children’s centre have worked with the artist to enhance their outdoor playspace. It has also engaged the parents in a creative atmosphere which has encouraged the parents to develop their own ways of transferring their creative workshop skills within the home environment.
