Find Your Talent North Somerset Cultural Hubs

The hubs will improve, expand and enrich the cultural offer to children and young people in North Somerset.

To develop stronger and sustainable relationships between children and young people, arts organisations, and cultural practitioners, Find Your Talent North Somerset is creating a network of five cultural hubs across the district.

The hubs will comprise national, regional organisations and locally based practitioners who will work with children and young people in partnership with schools and youth settings and local cultural resources to develop exciting and innovative creative projects.

The aim of the hubs will be to create a dynamic cultural offer to children and young people in response to locality needs and issues.

Each hub will contain a theatre company, a dance company and a media unit, as well as visual artists, designers, writers and poets.

A commercial music offer for Find Your Talent is being developed across all hubs by Bath Spa University and Kiss Radio 101 will be supporting this offer.

Other exciting developments include the creation of a youth culture magazine supported by Bristol and Bath Venue magazine, and a 6th hub comprising Primary Schools will concentrate on built design and supporting the Primary Capital Programme.

The Royal Shakespeare Company, London College of Fashion, Welsh National Opera and Bristol’s Arnolfini Gallery are just some of the cultural partners already signed up.

Michele Buchanan from the London College of Fashion, said, “We are really excited to join the cultural hub and are looking forward to discovering new ways of getting involved and giving young people in North Somerset a real taste of university life in the fashion field.

Gill Nicol from the Arnolfini Gallery, said, "We are delighted to explore a range of exciting and relevant approaches with children and young people in North Somerset. Find Your Talent gives us permission to take risks, experiment, and to involve children and young people at the very start of this creative project.

North Somerset Council’s executive member for Children & Young People’s Services, Councillor Jeremy Blatchford said, “The challenges of self belief, self confidence and enjoyment are critical to our health and success in life. Although still early days this project has made a real difference to a great many and these benefits will carry forward to future generations.
